Christchurch Good Citizen Awards
- March 2005

In March 2005 the partners of Solent IT were awarded the Young Entrepreneurs of the Year at the Christchurch Good Citizen Awards. Here are some newspaper and magazine excerpts to explain what happened:

Christchurch Rewards its Outstanding Citizens (excerpt only)

"The Daily Echo Young Entrepreneur Award Winners: Anthony Flower and James Moran (Solent IT)

Anthony and James have created several websites for the town of Christchurch including www.xchurch.co.uk and www.saxonsquare.com which provide local information, local discussion and a sense of community. They work hard to keep the information up-to-date with local events and news. They spent many hours setting up the sites initially and now update them every day. Although the cost of designing and hosting the sites are high they are able to absorb by using their own free time and the resources of their company thus making the sites completely free to the community."

"The Daily Echo Young Entrepreneur Award: Anthony Flower and James Moran (Solent IT)

Anthony and James have created several websites for the town of Christchurch including www.xchurch.co.uk and www.saxonsquare.com which provide local information, local discussion and a sense of community. They work hard to keep the information up-to-date with local events and news, Anthony and James spent many hours setting up the sites initially and now update them every day, which is a major commitment. The sites offer free advertising to local businesses and event organisers providing a wider economic benefit to the town. Although the cost of designing and hosting the sites are high the company owned by Anthony and James is able to absorb them making the sites completely free to the community.

Karen Lester who nominated Anthony and James wrote: 'They are constantly working on the sites, using their own free time and the resources of their company and they get nothing back in return. I think that they deserve recognition for this effort and contribution to the community.'"
